In this blog post, we take a look at our Stormshark, covering the uses, features, and benefits of the product.
The Stormshark is a highly effective stormwater treatment device. Featuring an effective hydrodynamic separation process that uses gravity to protect downstream controlled waters from sediment-bound pollutants. This is achieved by removing the waste, debris, settleable particles and sediment from the water before they reach nearby ponds.
These stand-alone units are designed to fit into a wide range of chambers, including concrete, polyethylene and GRP. These products have also been at the NJDEP (New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection) to achieve the NJDEP 2021 design certificate. Design certificates also include DIBt, NRW Trennerlass (an independent German lab and field test).
In terms of performance, they are among the most prominent products on the market. At design flows, they can remove more than 50% of fine TSS (0-200 microns, median size 75 microns) and up to 99% of coarse TDS (0.1 to 0.4mm). In addition, it has been certified by British Water CoP at PIA and IKA to remove 80% of TSS and tested to EN 858 for oil interceptor performance.
Depending on size and performance requirements, the Stormshark can be provided as 750mm up to 3000mm, with the 750mm and 1050mm versions having the option of being pre-installed in a robust PE twin wall chamber. The larger models of Stormsharks allow a larger connectable area and storage capacity. This enables us to confidently cover all ranges of drainage systems.
The Storm Shark has more approved certifications than any other product of this type compared to other manufacturers. This vote of confidence, alongside the high quality and effectiveness, has led to these products being installed on several major sites across the UK. This includes multiple units on National Highways including the A1.
A few key benefits of the Stormshark include:
The hydraulic flow rates in stormwater products have larger pipe connection sizes, making the Stormshark ideal for sites where higher peak flows are anticipated or required. They can also be easily connected to structured wall drainage pipes, which are commonly used in UK stormwater drainage management.
If you’re looking for a high-quality, sustainable way for stormwater treatment of sediment-bound pollutants from your site, our products are the answer.
