About the Product
Our Envirogully offers a unique, eco-friendly, and highly effective method for removing hydrocarbons and oil derivatives from surface water in road gullies. The adaptor incorporates a patented Smart Sponge block. This innovative technology creates a very porous structure with hydrophobic and oleophilic characteristics, which selectively removes hydrocarbons while allowing high flow rates of surface water. Importantly, the Envirogully design ensures no loss of hydraulic capacity or engineering integrity.
How it works
Hydrocarbons, being lighter than water, sit at the surface of the road gully. Once the Envirogully adaptor is fitted into the outlet pipe, the hydrocarbons are absorbed by the Smart Sponge block inside the adaptor. The Smart Sponge block swells while maintaining its porosity and core filtering capabilities. Its unique molecular structure, based on patented polymer technology, is chemically selective to hydrocarbons. Consequently, the Smart Sponge technology transforms pollutants into stable solid waste for easy recycling. Additionally, the Smart Sponge incorporates anti-microbial technology, capable of destroying disease-carrying microorganisms from surface water, such as E. coli, Streptococcus, and Enterococci.
Installation
The Envirogully is primarily designed to be retrofitted into existing road and yard gullies. However, it is equally effective when installed in catchpits with 150mm twinwall or 160mm EN 1401 pipework outlet connections. There is a range of three different adaptors that fit the rodding/overflow on most plastic and concrete gullies, as well as our 300mm and 450mm Accesso Catchpits.
The Envirogully features a push-fit design incorporating a rubber gasket, making it simple to install. To fit the unit, simply remove the rodding plug (if fitted), apply enough lubricant to the gasket and the overflow, and push the unit into the socket, ensuring a snug fit.
We can also supply Ø450mm Road Gullies suitable for 150mm Twinwall or 160mm smooth pipe connections. Road Gullies are supplied at 900mm depth.
